For your edification, here’s some political news that the so-called “liberal” media may have overlooked while carrying water for the right-wing.
Florida Voting Machines Gave Bush Extra Votes
Three Florida counties that used e-voting machines on Election Day might have given President Bush more than 130,000 additional votes, according to researchers at the University of California at Berkeley. Reports in Computerworld and News.com indicate that researchers want state and federal authorities to look into the possible discrepancy. The researchers found that the counties with electronic voting machines increased their support for Bush between 2000 and 2004 more than those with paper ballots or optical scanners. Researchers cited an number of statistical anomalies in key Democratic stronghold counties, including Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.
New Hampshire Recount Testing Accuracy of Diebold Voting Machines
A recount effort in New Hampshire is taking longer than expected according to the Associated Press. Presidential candidate Ralph Nader requested a recount and was required to pay $2,000 to help fund the recount effort in 11 of the state’s 126 precincts that showed wide differences in voting trends between the 2000 and 2004 elections. About 75 percent of the precincts with extreme changes had used Diebold’s Accuvote machines. State election officials said they have not found significant miscounts by Accuvote machines in past recounts, but the Nader campaign wanted to ensure that the results were accurate.
